Hi.
My name is Danielle.

How do you do?
Is it freezing where you are?
Do you like guacamole?

In case you are wondering, I don’t actually have duck lips. My lips are currently collagen-free and quite normal when I don’t purse them like that.

I live in Chicago.
Chicago

I was born in Chi, and even after traveling quite a bit and living in other places, it remains my favorite city. I find it the most beautiful and interesting place in the world. I try especially hard to remember that right around this time of year, when it becomes too-bright and bitterly cold.

It will remain icy winter for 6 more months now.

I think it’s a myth that people get used to it.

I certainly haven’t.

But as unpleasant as our “character-building” winter can be, I secretly love it too. Properly appreciated, like rainy days, the inhospitable outside makes the warm and comfy inside all the more cozy and welcoming. It’s the perfect time for reading and relaxing, for drinking hot mugs of delicious (and often powerfully alcoholic) beverages, and for getting down, on your new blog, lots of thoughts that would otherwise escape. Sounds good to me.

(See if I’m so cheerful come February.)

    Hello pretty lady!

Welcome to the internet from Lubtsja, Slovenia! I smiles at your duck face.

It is freezes here too. I have sister died in frost last winter. What is “guacamole?” Is it dirt animal? For food? Hooray!!!

Please type more and be plentiful. Go encouragement.

Hi Spong! Yes, this is my first blog. Why do you need more than one? So much to learn… :)

wow, you live in a bright blue patch of sky – instead of in a building? how cool is that!

    congrats on blog!

  6. i use one for more personal stuff, while the others (tech, burgers, and family) are for more specific audiences. i used to have just a single blog, but it was chaotic how the topics i like to discuss was just everywhere.

i just think it’s better to have a more targeted blog for specific topics. that way when readers return, they know what general topics the blog is about.

oh, where is your RSS feed for you blog? i’m pretty sure wordpress has it available. i ask because i use google reader to read all my news/blogs, and it requires an rss feed. also, once you have one, you should register it on feedburner, so you can track your readers better.

    :)

  7. Wunderbar! Welcome to the addictive world of blogging and congrats on post #1!

And you better not make me miss Chicago any more than I already do (except in February, when I crow about Texas winters).

  8. Hah! Welcome to the sphere o’ blog, Ms. D! Returning your wave/Spock-hand-gesture thingy.

My best friend on Earth is in Chi (Andersonville) – I love your city, but at the moment largely as reassurance that there is a civilized human community colder than Boston is…

Hi Paul. I guess my wave is a bit Spocky. Ducklips and Spock-handed, and excellent way to introduce yourself to the internet. Well, at least it captures my personality.

    Who said anything about civilized?
